The Mattress Recycling Council operates Bye Bye Mattress, a statewide initiative to collect discarded mattresses and divert them from landfills. To further increase collection and awareness of the program, our team was tasked to conduct a multilingual survey to help the council develop messaging and strategies targeting the Latino and Asian communities throughout the state.
My Role
Created strategy and materials for survey promotion and implementation in five languages: English, Hmong, Korean, Mandarin, and Spanish
Interviewed, hired, and trained 22 bilingual canvassers in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fresno, and Orange County in 3 weeks
Managed survey logistics and communications with team leads in four cities
Results
Successfully collected 660+ surveys in 2 days of canvassing
Completed survey implementation and analysis in two months, from start to finish
The project informed future outreach strategy to increase statewide mattress recycling awareness for the target ethnic groups
